Beeston CC Introductory Rides

Tim and Judy have worked out a route for the introductory rides here

We are looking at this being a 12.5 mph, 2 and a bit hour ride.

The club needs to provide a route leader and someone riding ‘shotgun’ as we will leave no one on the road. The person at the back needs to be able to repair and carry spares. So if you are able to volunteer the rides will be on:

22nd March (Tim, Adrian)

26th April (Richard, Adam )

17th May (Adam)

28th June

19th July

16th August

20th September

(The 3rd Sunday of every month at 2pm (apart from June))

Let me know if you can help and what month ….

Flowers for Randall

Having received details for flowers for Randall Lewis’s funeral it seems appropriate that we send some from Beeston CC given his support to the club’s development. Judy has kindly agreed to go and get some. If you wish to donate pass the money on to her or via Richard. Any extra money can go to the Charities that the family have suggested.

Cycle Maintenance.

Does anybody else feel the same as me out there?

I would like to know more about how to maintain my bikes, would any of the more experienced mechanics like to give me/us a lesson in the essentials, especially indexing gears.

I was thinking a couple of hours one Sat/Sun afternoon, i can provide a garage, tea/coffee/beer etc.

Party, Party, Party!

As you know the Brittle Clan are moving  to NY early in February.

To mark our departure we have booked the function room at the Commercial for Sunday 1st Feb.  7:30pm to 11pm so it’s an adults only do.   Sorry it’s a “school night” but some of you will be nursing sore bits on the Saturday, and timing was getting a bit tight!

We hope as many of you as possible can make it.  We will put on a few nibbles, but not too much as it gets in the way of drinking.  I overcame my reluctance to blog about boozing on the BCC website when I remembered that beer has featured at least as much as cycling ever since we all started riding together.

All the best

Simon and Ruth

For Sale!

@All,

I have a Trek Madone frame for sale. It has a bit of damage on the right hand side rear stay. I have tried to get it replaced but Trek wouldn’t honour the crash replacement clause! So if anyone would like to take it off my hands for say 200.00 Ono? It comes with forks. It could be fixed I’m sure although I would only use it as a training bike or a hack  for use around town. Size 58cm. I don’t want to chuck it as it holds so many great ride memories etc so just let me know.

Allez…

100 miles – 31st Jan

Hi all, here is the 100 route, Saturday 31st January
7am from Argos

This is not a club organized route and does not have any turn by turn instructions, so please print a copy of this map and bring it with you.
Adrian has said that he will download it to his GPS system, hopefully other people who have GPS will download too.
There will be a vehicle at 50 miles, either Long Bennington or Westborough which will have water and some malt loafs.
Given that my pace isn’t the fastest at the moment  and limited winter light,  I suggest that we start at 7am from Argos.
Let me know if you are up for it and who have GPS systems.
This is a good way to end January!!
