The honeys are re-grouping after the summer break. Given the dark nights we are going out on either a Thursday or Friday morning straight from school. This doesn’t suit everyone – most of us work full or part time. However it is the best we can do for the time being – and it is hard to accommodate all riders given the competing demands that exist in a family/working life. I estimate there are 10-12 honies, and I hope that by turning up at the school with bikes and kit that the numbers will grow quite quickly.
I have suggested – a bit tongue in cheek – that the honies ride out to Ragdale Hall – be pampered and lie about in a thick towelling dressing gown – stay overnight – and ride back the next day. Support would consist of making sure our overnight bags were delivered and collected.
Because I can not commit to daytime riding in the week, and because I tend to go out very early, I have been going out on my own. I want to get fit and I want to have a good target to aim for. I have ( this week) done a 40 mile back to back and a 50 ( 3hrs 30). I am thinking of a similar training regime r4rh did – ie monthly increases (though I recall it wasn’t until January that r4rh did a 40 back to back?? I suppose I want to get to 70 miles by xmas and 100 by Easter. Don’t know if this is on the right track??
I would enjoy some company!! Or could I join some Saturday mornings – probably taking a shorter route??
I don’t do hills.
Any advice re purchasing a road bike?? Know anyone who would be interested in buying a clunker??
